Many years ago I needed a hernia operation. And, thanks to a local service for uninsured people, Project Access, I was able to get my hernia operation for a scant $5. I was talking to Kathleen Hanna about it and she told me she wanted to hear that song - Five Dollar Hernia. And I just didn't want to say 'no' to her. I just didn't. So, I sat down with my crappy variable speed cassette player (you can hear how it's running a bit too fast) and just made up this lengthy folk ballad off the top of my head. Stay with it at least until you hear the sigh.
